The
Walpole Fire Department held their 50th annual "Night
Before the Fourth Celebration" featuring a fire apparatus parade on Thursday,
July 3rd at 6:00pm. The department
has sponsored this event since 1957. The celebration was not held one year due
to the downtown business area being under construction. Firefighters,
retirees, friends and family work through the night as volunteers to help make
the event successful.
The Schedule of events for the night included the
following:
6:00
pm Fire Apparatus parade.
Starting in East Walpole at Hollingsworth and Vose.
The route of the parade is Washington St, Short St, East St (following East
St. into the center of Town) taking a left onto Main St, Common St ending on
School St.
The parade parks on Stone St. between School St and
Ellis St. for public viewing.
6:30pm-9:30pm
A food court will be set up behind the Fire Station
Featuring hot dogs, popcorn, slush and soda which
is served by firefighters and volunteers for a nominal fee.
7:00pm-9:30pm
A concert by "First Class"
Took place in the field behind Town Hall and the
Fire Station. "First Class" has performed the lat few years and has
been a huge success with the crowd.
9:30pm
Fireworks Display
Atlas Pyrotechnics of Jaffrey, NH put on a
spectacular fireworks display. Atlas has been the only fireworks
company the Walpole Fire Department has used since the Celebration's
inception in 1957,
As you are well aware the cost of food has risen, our
prices for hot dogs, popcorn, tonic, etc., for the Night Before the 4th
Celebration has not. In an effort to keep our prices from rising and keep
this an affordable night for the family we are asking for your help in the
endeavor. Any donation you can make will be greatly appreciated.
